Elie Saab Haute Couture Autumn/Winter 2013/14

It's time to chat about another one of my favourites of the Paris Haute Couture Autumn/Winter 2013/14 shows - Elie Saab. Now, everybody take a deep breath. In... and out.... are you ready? Prepare yourselves and expect to be in awe - this is Elie Saab after all.

The gowns showcased were red, silver and green, obviously a favourite colour choice for Elie Saab as it is prominent in nearly all of his shows. The designs were just stunning and the epitome of classic eleganc, exhibiting deep v-necks, beautiful sequin detailing, long trains, full flowing skirts, and low backs. Similar to the dresses designed by Zuhair Murad for this season's Haute Couture shows, some of Saab's gowns did utilise sheer mesh to reveal some skin, particularly cleavage and thighs. However, Saab's gowns were definitely not as extravagant as Murad's. He kept to classic cuts and designs with the Cinderella sparkle of sequins - as he has in most of his collections. Although Elie Saab did not showcase anything radically different, his gowns capture the essence of Haute Couture perfectly. They are beautiful, elegant and flattering - and that never goes out of style.

Okay, I admit, there is a particular reason why Elie Saab is in my favourites list. Sure, his dresses are beautiful, but can I just draw attention to his wedding gown? Make sure you're sitting down. Prepare youselves.

Oh. My. God. Words can not describe the beauty of that gown. The beading, the shimmering sequins, that perfect fall of the skirt, the headpiece and veil, and THAT TRAIN! Is that not what every little girl dreams of wearing when she finally walks down the aisle to marry her prince? Sigh.

'Till next time,
Kate
